Expressing displeasure over the functioning of the Shimla Police in a case of alleged suicide of 12-year-old boy belonging to a Scheduled Caste community at Limbra village in Chirgaon Tehsil, the Himachal Pradesh Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes Commission today instructed the cops to ensure strict compliance of its directions.
The instructions were given today by the commission chairperson, who, along with other members of the panel, visited the police headquarters to discuss the case.
Continuing from the earlier meeting held on October 1, the chairperson sought certain reports and relevant documents, which were furnished to the commission. The police briefed the panel about the progress made in the case since October 1.
DGP Ashok Tewari assured the commission that all provisions of the Act will be implemented in letter and spirit and that all necessary steps will be taken to ensure justice and sensitivity in such matters.
