DAV-Surangani kids excel in state-level sports

Students of DAV Public School, Bira Siul Power Station (BSPS), Surangani, Chamba, have once again brought laurels to the institution by delivering outstanding performances at the state-level sports tournaments. More than 70 students participated across various events, and 16 of them have been selected to represent Himachal Pradesh at the national level in volleyball, wrestling and kabaddi.

In a remarkable display of skill and teamwork, the girls’ under-17 kabaddi team emerged as state champions, while in wrestling, the girls’ under-19 (76 kg) and girls’ under-14 (50 kg) categories both clinched gold medals. The boys’ under-14 wrestling team also secured top honours with a gold medal in the 44 kg category, further adding to the school’s glory. The boys’ under-17 and under-14 kabaddi teams finished as runners-up, showcasing grit and determination. Additionally, the boys’ wrestling contingent earned three bronze medals, underscoring the school’s all-round excellence in sports. Principal Naresh Kumar Sharma lauded the achievements of the students and attributed their success to the unwavering dedication of the Physical Education Department and the consistent encouragement from the school’s management. He extended heartfelt gratitude to the Chairman of the school and Head of the Power Station KT Rajah Pandian, ARO HP Zone-F Namit Sharma, Manager Ashok Kumar Guleria and all stakeholders for their continuous support and belief in the school’s mission to foster holistic development through sports.

With this commendable performance, DAV-Surangani has reaffirmed its reputation as a nurturing ground for young sporting talent and a proud representative of the state on the national stage, said Sharma.
