UNA: Deputy Commissioner Sandeep Kumar on Thursday met Mannat Singh, a student of Class IV who donated her pocket money of Rs 865 to the district administration for the fight against Covid-19, at her residence in Una. Mannat’s mother Mamta Devi was also present. He said that he was impressed by the poster designed by Mannat, requesting guests to wash their hands first. Two days ago, Mannat had stopped a government vehicle near her house and handed over her savings from pocket money to the staff, requesting them to give it to the DC. oc

Field staff not given safety gear: Union

Nurpur: The HPSEBL Employees Union has alleged the board was not serious on the security of the field employees. Kuldeep Kharwara, state president of the union, here on Thursday said the field technical staff were not given sanitisers, masks and gloves despite order by the board management. Kharwara said only 20 per cent employees had been supplied these safety gears in Kangra, Dalhousie, Bilaspur, Mandi, Una, Nahan, Rampur and Shimla electrical circles. OC

Online classes at Tiara school

Kangra: DAV School at Tiara in Kangra district has gone digital. Shekhar Moudgil, Principal, said that the school had started online classes with the help of Zoom app. The school had told parents and teachers to take the help of Diksha and e-Pathshala app for more digital content. oc

HRTC vans for patients

Chamba: To facilitate patients coming to Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru Government Medical College and Hospital (PJNGMCH), Himachal Road Transport Corporation (HRTC) electric vans have started plying on roads. It was earlier banned due to curfew in the state. The orders were passed by District Magistrate Vivek Bhatia here. The decision was taken to provide emergency transport services to the patients. HRTC electric vans would be available to patients from Baloo and Zero Point to the PJNGMCH, he stated. oc

18,151 migrant labourers identified

Kangra: The district administration has identified 18,151 migrant labourers and 6,511 of them have been given ration for 10 days on demand. They were told to remain indoors and maintain social distancing. Deputy Commissioner Rakesh Prajapati said three helplines (8894029000, 8219509229 and 9418056534) had been created for needy people to make calls for ration. He said flu corners had been established in various civil hospitals and community health centres of the district for treatment of general cold, cough and flu. Various quarantine centres had also been set up. Sufficient foodgrains, essential items, vegetables, fruits, medicines and gas refills were available in the district. TNS

IOC dealers ‘well-stocked’

Chamba: LPG distributorships of the Indian Oil Corporation (IOC) are well-stocked for the lockdown period and there is no shortage in Himachal Pradesh, said a spokesperson for the corporation on Thursday. He claimed that the LPG distributorships were functioning normally as per the advisories of the state government and the local administration. He advised customers to book their LPG refills from their own homes through SMS/IVRS, WhatsApp (75888-88824) or online (IndianOilOne mobile app or https://cx.indianoil.in) for delivery of LPG refill cylinders at their doorsteps.
