A metal device, which seems to be a part of a flying object, was found in an uninhabited area of Behad Bhated village in Amb subdivision of Una district early this morning. The police rushed to the village after being informed by panchayat pradhan Hans Raj and cordoned off the area.

There were reports that the police also recovered metal debris lying in an uninhabited area in Pirthipur village of Gagret subdivision, a few kilometres from Behad Bhated village.

Sarabjit, whose house is located near the site where metal debris was found at Behad Bhated village, said that around 1.30 am, he woke up after hearing dogs barking in the street. When he came out, he saw a bright light and fire dropping some distance away and hitting the ground with a loud bang.

Sarabjit said in the morning, he saw an object lying on the village path near his house, and it appeared to be a part of a projectile. He added panchayat pradhan Hans Raj informed the local police, which reached the village soon and cordoned off the area.

The Army authorities will ascertain the origin and the intended destination of the projectile, besides its make and capabilities. Behad Bhated village is about 15 km from Mata Chintpurni temple in Una district and 20 km from the Talwara dam. The Nangal dam over the Sutlej is located about 18 km from Una and the high security Bhakra dam is also in the close proximity to the Nangal dam.
