Dehri Lahar village facing shortage of drinking water

RESIDENTS of Dehri Lahar village, Bhatiyan gram panchayat in Fatehpur development block, are facing drinking water problems. No families in the villages have a piped water connection, and the areas have not been connected with any drinking water supply scheme. The residents are dependent on hand pump, which is defunct for the past few months, and causing a hardship to the villagers. The Jal Shakti Vibhag should address the problem of the remote village and connect it with the nearby water supply scheme. The defective hand pump should be repaired immediately. — Lekh Raj, Dehri-Lahar village

Stray cattle menace rampant on Kangra roads

Stray cattle are creating a menace on the main roads in Kangra district. Large cattle herds are seen sitting on the national highway stretch from Palampur to Kangra. During the night, it is difficult to spot the cattle on the road. The sharp curves of hill roads make add to the difficult. The government should redress the problem, which is getting more acute every day. It is strange that despite of big schemes and allocating a budget in crores for tackling the problem of stray cattle, nothing has being done. — Akshay Sood, Palampur
