Demand charges deferred till June 30

Shimla: Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur, interacting with steel industrialists of Kala Amb in Sirmaur district through video-conferencing, said the payment of demand charges in respect of industrial, commercial and agriculture consumers for power consumption of April and May had been deferred till June 30. These charges would be recovered in three equal installments during July, August and September. A rebate of 1 per cent subject to the maximum of Rs 10,000 would be available to consumers who pay the bills for April on or before May 31. TNS

Wrong entry on Aarogya Setu app creates panic

Dharamsala: An erroneous entry in the Aarogya Setu application by a resident of Dharamsala created panic among the local authorities and people on Thursday. Sources said that he downloaded the Aarogya Setu application of the Union Government but wrongly mentioned himself as a Covid-19 patient. The application started reflecting one Covid positive patient in Dharamsala, leading to panic. However, later the authorities found that the person had erroneously entered himself as Covid-19 positive. He tried to change the entry, but failed to do so. TNS

Governor honours 21 sanitation workers

Shimla: Governor Bandaru Dattatreya honoured 21 sanitation workers of the Shimla Municipal Corporation at Raj Bhawan on Thursday. He said nearly 1,100 sanitation workers, including 30 per cent women, were conducting door-to-door hygiene campaigns by collecting garbage and risking their lives amid the Covid outbreak. 61 challaned in Mandi for not wearing masks

Mandi: The police penalised 61 persons in Mandi district on Thursday for not wearing face masks in public places. Mandi SP Gurdev Chand Sharma confirmed that 61 persons were challaned for not wearing masks. He said that spitting in public places was strictly prohibited and the offenders would be fined up to Rs 5,000. TNS

MLA Pathania donates 100 PPE kits

Nurpur: Local MLA Rakesh Pathania on Thursday donated 100 Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) kits, 200 N95 masks and 100 face shields at the Civil Hospital staff here. He also distributed 200 face shields and goggles to police personnel on Covid duty. OC
