Demand for Himalayan art college

There is a demand for setting up a college for the dying Himalayan art and craft on the old premises of Akhand Chandi Palace, following the completion of a new building of Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru Government Medical College (PJNGMC) at Sarol. ln this college, the students could be taught Pahari miniature paintings’ advance and basic courses, Chamba Metal craft, Chamba embroidery, Chamba leather and tanning classes etc. Folk music and theatre could be an additional delight. “The point is to restore and maintain the premises to its past glory, otherwise the Akhand Chandi Palace structures would go to ruins tomorrow,” said Navneet Chowfla, a naturalist.

Online competition at Totu school

A five-day online competition is being organised by Government Senior Secondary School, Totu, for students of classes VI to XII. Principal Kavita Verma said such competitions would not only provide a platform for the students to showcase their talent, but also reduce their stress induced by the lockdown. On the first day of the competition, students participated in the calligraphy competition.
