Panchrukhi-Pahada needs to be turned to double-lane road THE Panchrukhi-Pahada road is a crucial route for several panchayats — including Maniyada Khera, Jaisinghpur and Lambagaon. The road serves as the primary connection to key destinations such as Jaisinghpur, Lambagaon, Sujanpur, Hamirpur, Una, Chandigarh and Delhi. Buses frequently take this route during the morning and evening hours. The road’s single-lane structure has led to frequent traffic jams and a rising number of accidents, highlighting the urgent need to upgrade it to a double-lane road. Despite the growing volume of traffic in the Panchrukhi area of Palampur, efforts to widen the road from Panchrukhi to Pahada have been limited, resulting in severe congestion. The local demand to convert this route into a two-lane road has now become a pressing issue. With the current single-lane configuration, traffic congestion and accidents occur regularly. Expanding the road would not only improve traffic flow but also enhance road safety, providing smoother and safer travel to commuters. Satish Sharma, Panchrukhi
