Demand to Regularise teachers

The Himachal Government Teachers Union (HGTU), Virendra Chauhan faction, has accused the government of delaying the regularisation of PTA, PARA and PET teachers and threatened to gherao the state Secretariat if 10,000 teachers were not regularised within 10 days. The Supreme Court had already given green signal and the state Cabinet had also taken a decision to regularise the teachers, but the implementation of the decision was being delayed, said the president and the general secretary of the HGTU, Virendra Chauhan and Shyam Lal Handa. They have given ten-day ultimatum to the government.

Education council for conducting exams

Chairman, HP State Higher Education Council, Sunil Kumar Gupta, has welcomed the decision of the state government to conduct the final semester examinations of undergraduate and postgraduate students after August 16. He said those opposing the decision and in favour of promotion of final semester students wanted to play with students’ career for political ends. The students, if promoted, might face problem while appearing for placements or joining higher studies, he said. The state government could conduct exams after creating more centres, maintaining social distancing and properly sanitising the centres, he said.

Sacred Heart students excel

Students of Sacred Heart Senior Secondary School, Sidhpur and Dalhousie, excelled in the ICSE and the ISC exams. All 141 students from the Sidhpur branch passed the ICSE Class X exam. As many as 11 students secured 95 per cent, while 51 students secured 90 per cent. Saransh Mahajan, the topper, secured 97.8 per cent, followed by Anjali Sharma with 96.8 per cent and Saloni Chaudhary with 96.4 per cent. As many as 62 students appeared for the ISC Class XII exam and 11 students secured above 90 per cent. Jatin Guleria with 92.75 per cent was the Non-Medical topper, while Devanshi Gupta topped was the Medical stream topper with 92.5 per cent. From Dalhousie, 69 students appeared for the ICSE Class X exam, of which seven secured above 90 per cent. Toppers included Arshiya and Salil Bakaria with 95.8 per cent, each. As many as 22 students appeared for the ISC Class XII exam and Shivali Sharma topped the Commerce stream with 96.5 per cent.
