As part of the Department of State Taxes and Excise’s “Special Awareness Drive on GST Compliance and Revenue Enhancement”, a seminar was held on Tuesday in Manali for the North Zone. This initiative, running from June 5 to July 4, aims to improve GST adherence and increase state revenue by educating stakeholders on tax management best practices.
Joint Commissioner Rakesh Bhartiya chaired the interactive session, addressing over 60 stakeholders. These included representatives from the Manali Traders Association, the Manali Hotel Association and several Chartered Accountants. Bhartiya emphasised the critical importance of proper invoicing and maintaining meticulous billing records. He explained that accurate invoicing streamlines internal accounting and plays a vital role in state revenue generation. He stressed that transparency and diligence in following GST norms directly contribute to a stronger economic foundation for the community.
The event, held in the SDM Complex conference hall, exemplified coordination and collaboration. Assistant Commissioner Vijay Dhiman and State Taxes and Excise Officer Madhvendra Mohan worked seamlessly to ensure an informative and engaging session. Participants received briefings on the latest GST provisions, recent notifications and compliance requirements for businesses in an evolving tax landscape. This detailed walkthrough provided clear insights into how new policies impact day-to-day operations and highlighted the collective responsibility of businesses in upholding a robust tax system.
Following the presentation, a lively interactive Q&A session allowed participants to raise queries and discuss real-world challenges directly with tax officials. This open dialogue helped demystify complex regulatory aspects and brought common hurdles faced by the sector to light. Many attendees expressed appreciation for the initiative, noting that such engagements are invaluable in promoting a better understanding of tax practices and fostering trust between the government and the taxpayer community.
In conclusion, the Manali seminar was more than just an information session; it was a strategic forum for dialogue and cooperation. The event marks a significant step towards sustained economic growth and paves the way for future collaborative initiatives.
