Deputy CM hands over taxi keys to beneficiary
Deputy Chief Minister Mukesh Agnihotri today handed over the keys of an electric taxi to a beneficiary of the Rajiv Gandhi Swarozgar (RGS) scheme at Haroli. The beneficiary, 44-year-old Ashok Kumar, hails from Dulehar village of the Haroli Assembly segment.
Agnihotri said the state government has provided a sum of Rs 680 crore for the implementation of the scheme, which not only provides employment, but helps conserve the environment by using green energy. He said unemployed youth can take the benefit of the scheme by applying on the online portal of the State Labour and Employment Department.
The Deputy Chief Minister said the beneficiaries have to make a down payment of 10 per cent of the cost of the electric taxi, while the 50 per cent cost is provided by the state government as subsidy. The remaining 40 per cent is provided as bank loan to the beneficiary on 7.9 per cent interest rate. He added that the taxi is then attached to a government department at a fixed salary of Rs 50,000 per month to the owner, who will also drive the vehicle.
