Deputy CM orders crackdown on gun culture in Una district

He also directed the district administration to ensure concrete changes within a week in this direction.
While addressing the people in Haroli, Agnihotri said that peace-loving people of Una want to live in harmony and fraternity and, therefore, the administration must not hesitate in taking stern action against the gun culture. He said that those involved in extortion, firing incidents and other criminal activities have no place in a civilised society.
The Deputy CM further said that the state government’s politics is centered around development, welfare and service to the poor. “For strengthening surveillance systems, CCTV cameras are being installed across Haroli and the entire district to ensure that accused persons involved in any incident can be quickly identified and strict action ensured against them,” he said.
The minister inaugurated a 36-metre span ‘Bow-String RCC Beam Bridge’ constructed at a cost of Rs 4 crore over Haroli Khad. He said the construction work of the bridge has been completed in less than a year. “This bridge will now ensure safer and smoother movement for local residents and vehicles, especially during the monsoon season,” he said.
Highlighting the developmental works that are going on in Haroli, Agnihotri said that as many as eight bridges are being constructed in Haroli at a cost of Rs 126 crore, while work on roads worth Rs 85 crores is also underway.
He said that Rs 48.69 crore has been approved for the upgrade of the Jejon Mor-Tahliwal link road. “As a part of this, a road costing Rs 20 crore will be constructed from Jejon Mor to Tahliwal, along with the construction of three bridges, including Baheda Bridge at Rs 8.74 crore, Kangar Bridge at Rs 15.4 crore and Palakwah Bridge at Rs 6.24 crore,” he said,
“These projects will significantly improve connectivity and traffic convenience in the region, providing major relief to the people,” he added.
He further said that work of Rs 75 crores Beet Area Irrigation Scheme Phase-II is in progress. “This will provide irrigation facilities to the areas of Palakwah, Karampur, Thakaran, Pubowal, Kuthar and Gondpur Jaichand. Work is also being undertaken on a second water supply scheme for Haroli costing Rs 100 crore,” he said.
