Deworming dose to be administered at anganwadis today

During a meeting with the District Task Force held at the office of the Chief Medical Officer today, Mandi Deputy Commissioner Apoorv Devgan said children in 3,021 Anganwadi centres and 2,744 schools across the district would be administered albendazole on February 20 as part of National Deworming Day.

The DC said in the first phase in August 2024, the deworming programme had a remarkable success rate of 99.4 per cent. The programme aims to deworm 2,48,520 children aged between 1 to 19 in Mandi.

The DC emphasised the importance of achieving a 100 per cent target and instructed all departments to ensure that no child is left behind. He urged all parents to send their children to schools or Anganwadi centres on February 20 to receive the albendazole medication for their health benefits.

Dr Narender Kumar Bhardwaj, Chief Medical Officer, said for children aged 1 to 5, the medication will be provided at Anganwadi centres, while trained teachers will administer it in schools to children aged 6 to 19. In cases where a child misses the dose, the medication will be provided on February 27.
