The government is yet to appoint a regular DGP and Tiwari is holding the additional charge. There are three IPS officers -- Anurag Garg, Ritwik Rudra and Ashok Tiwari -- from the 1993 batch but only Tiwari is serving in the state at present.

The state government gave the additional charge of DGP to Tiwari, who is DGP (Vigilance), following the retirement of Atul Verma. Negi is due to retire on March 31, 2026, and has about eight months' service left. On the other hand Tiwari is due to retire on December 31, 2029.
