He was the chief guest at the one-day district-level Reyali Mela (Theog Utsav) held at Potato Ground in Theog.

He added that the festival at Theog reminded everyone of the history of Independence, and the formation of Prajamandal and the interim government.

“The issue regarding the inclusion of the history of the Theog Prajamandal in school syllabi would be raised before the Chief Minister and the Education Minister,” he said.

The present government was making efforts to provide better health facilities to the general public, he added.

“Work is being done to ensure that patients do not face any kind of problem in hospitals and the latest technology is used in the health sector,” he said.

He assured the gathering that the state government was trying to obtain the ‘district-level’ status for the Theog Civil Hospital.

Shandil said the state government was making efforts to promote tourism and horticulture sectors, which could provide the much-needed employment avenues to people of the state.

Due to the efforts of the local MLA, crores of rupees had been sanctioned for the development of Theog Assembly constituency, he added.

He announced that Rs 11,000 would be given to the Chikhad Sanskriti Dal, which presented a cultural performance depicting the history of the Prajamandal. Theog MLA Kuldeep Rathore said the state government had expedited the construction of the sewerage scheme in Theog, which had been pending for 17 years. The scheme was nearing completion, he added.

“A sum of Rs 17 crore is being spent to end the drinking water crisis in Theog, with the project being near completion,” he said.

Rathore said as per the decision of the government, apples were being sold in universal cartons, which was benefiting the people.

An ice skating rink would be constructed in Narkanda soon, which would help attract more tourists, he added.
