Dhar school students apprised of road safety
Students of Government Senior Secondary School, Dhar, in the Jubbal subdivision of Shimla were recently apprised of road safety during a road safety awareness camp organised by the school administration. Retired teacher and social worker Joginder Dhaulta was the chief guest at the event, while Jubbal police station SHO Chetan Chauhan and his team were the special guests.
Addressing students, teachers and other staff members, Chauhan emphasised the importance of road safety and also highlighted the alarming number of road accidents in India. He said, every year, lakhs of people lost their lives due to road accidents.
“The primarily reason behind the accidents is violations of road safety rules — speeding, driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs, and not wearing helmets while riding two-wheelers,” he added. Expressing concern over the rising drug abuse in society, he said it has become a major challenge with severe consequences.
He urged students to stay away from drugs and stated that that children were the future of the country.
Mukesh from the Police Department gave an important presentation to the students on cybercrime, its impacts and ways to protect themselves from it. He said the state police had taken a strong stance against drug abuse, and was taking active steps to combat it.
