In a heartfelt gesture on the eve of his 53rd birthday, BJP MLA Sudhir Sharma extended financial assistance of nearly Rs 59.70 lakh to more than 100 families in his Dharamsala Assembly constituency. Since Friday morning, scores of people began gathering at the MLA’s residence to extend their greetings. Unlike grand political celebrations, Sharma spent the day among the public, reaffirming his commitment to the welfare of his constituency.

Addressing the gathering, Sharma said, “My dream is that no family in Dharamsala remains without a roof over their head. Those who have lost homes due to natural calamities must get assistance — not just promises.”

He emphasised the urgent need for relief and accused the state government of inaction despite repeated appeals by the public.

Sharma said Rs 45 lakh had been distributed among 30 families for the construction of permanent homes, while Rs 12.70 lakh had been given to 66 families for house repairs. Additionally, Rs 2 lakh was disbursed among 11 families as immediate relief for pressing needs — bringing the total to Rs 59.70 lakh.
