Dharmani inaugurates space lab at government school in Bilaspur
Addressing students after inaugurating the second space lab of the state at Government Senior Secondary School (Boys) at Bilaspur on Tuesday, Technical Education Minister Rajesh Dharmani said space labs being established in government schools of the district would inspire young minds towards space, science, technology and innovation.
Appreciating the initiative of Bilaspur Deputy Commissioner Abid Hussain Sadiq, the minister said the space lab would prove an essential part of educational reforms in the district.
Dharmani said the space lab would provide students with hands-on experience in space science, robotics and aerospace technology.
The lab is equipped with drones, 3D printers, telescopes and models of various ISRO missions. Students would get in-depth knowledge of subjects like satellite communication and aerospace engineering, he added, stating that these would be essential requirement of knowledge in future.
He exhorted students from nearby schools to visit the lab. Dharmani expressed his gratitude to HDFC Bank for contributing Rs 12 lakh from its corporate social responsibility fund for the establishment of the space lab.
The first space lab was set up at GSSS, Ghumarwin, in Bilaspur. Four more such labs are on the cards for the district.
Dharmani also honoured HDFC Bank’s cluster head Ankit Sharma, branch manager Pankaj Guleriya and area head Ritesh Sharma.
He noted that 10 students were sent on educational trips to the Space Application Centre of ISRO in Ahmedabad.
Preparations were underway to send 50 more students on such trips, he added.
While at the school, Dharmani also inaugurated the first Activity-Based Learning (ABL) classroom.
Former MLA Tilak Raj Sharma and school Principal Shyam Lal were among those present at the event.
