The Intensive Diarrhoea and Pneumonia Control Fortnight will be observed in Chamba from March 14 to 27 under which 53,708 children up to the age of 5 years will be given ORS and zinc supplement, Deputy Commissioner Mukesh Repaswal said on Monday. He was presiding over a review meeting to take stock of preparations for the campaign.

Reviewing the action plan of the Health Department, Repaswal gave necessary directions to departmental officials. He emphasised the role and responsibilities of various departments and institutions in the campaign and directed Panchayati Raj institutions to take essential steps to spread awareness at the rural level.

Additionally, he instructed the District Programme Officer for Child Development to ensure the active participation of all Anganwadi workers during the campaign.

The DC also conducted a detailed review of the School Health Programme under the Ayushman Bharat scheme and issued relevant instructions to concerned officials. He stressed that awareness activities on all 11 thematic areas of the programme should be conducted every Thursday in all schools.

During the meeting, past decisions were reviewed, and the Rashtriya Kishor Swasthya Karyakram (RKSK) was also assessed, with officials receiving further directives.

Earlier, Chief Medical Officer Dr Bipen Thakur gave the details of health programmes undergoing in the district. The meeting proceedings were conducted by District Health Officer Dr JS Bhardwaj. Deputy Director of Higher Education Bhag Singh, District Programme Officer for Women and Child Development Kamal Kishore Sharma attended the meeting among others.
