Nahan, July 11
Sirmaur Deputy Commissioner Sumit Khimta launched a special campaign to prevent the spread of diarrhoea during the monsoon in the district. The initiative aims to curb the seasonal surge in diarrhoea cases through various health programmes and awareness campaigns across rural and urban areas.
During the campaign, which will end on August 31, Oral Rehydration Solution (ORS) and zinc tablets will be provided to children under five, a group particularly vulnerable to the illness.
Khimta emphasised the heightened risk of diarrhoea during the rainy season and stressed the importance of ensuring clean drinking water, sanitation and hygiene.
Khimta instructed the Jal Shakti Department to ensure the supply of clean drinking water and the chlorination of water sources. Chief Medical Officer Dr Ajay Pathak provided detailed insights into the diarrhoea control measures.
