Disaster management training for AYUSH Dept staff in Keylong

A one-day training programme for all officers and employees of the AYUSH Department was organised at its office at Keylong in Lahaul and Spiti district yesterday. The event commenced with Kalyani Gupta, Project Officer, ITDB, lighting a lamp.

District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA) Coordinator Varsha Thakur, Fire Inspector Ratan Chand and Senior Platoon Commander Jawahar conducted the training session. The participants were given comprehensive information on the fundamentals of disaster management, precautionary measures to be taken during different types of disasters (dos and don’ts), basic search and rescue operations, fire safety protocols and various methods to tackle fire-related emergencies.

A practical demonstration on the use of fire extinguishers was also made. Staff members were trained in the operation of different types of fire extinguishers and were also guided on their correct and effective usage.

District AYUSH Officer Dr Banita Sharma emphasised the importance of such training programmes, which played a vital role in strengthening departmental preparedness. She added that these initiatives helped in ensuring a quick and effective response during emergency situations.

Such capacity-building trainings are organised periodically with the aim of enhancing disaster preparedness in the district and making people aware about disaster management practices.
