Disaster mitigation training concludes in Chamba

A week-long mock drill, capacity-building programme and public awareness campaign to train various institutions and stakeholders in disaster management under the Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Plan concluded in Chamba on Monday.
Teams from the 14th Battalion of the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), Nurpur, conducted the training. On Monday, under the leadership of Inspector Sushil Verma, an NDRF-trained team provided disaster management training to volunteers of Aapda Mitra and other young volunteers in Sarol, Chamba.
The NDRF team trained the volunteers on various aspects of disaster management, including rope rescue techniques such as, jumaring, rappelling, flying fox rappelling, knot practices and protocols for landslides and Chemical, Biological, Radiological, and Nuclear (CBRN) emergencies.
