Fascinated with the beautiful valley, Bilaspur DC Abid Hussain Sadik organised a meeting with stakeholders in Bilaspur yesterday.

He said the village, which is close to the Kol dam, could become a new tourist destination in the state as the area could offer numerous tourism and sports activities round the year.

Villagers would be encouraged to adopt traditional agriculture, pottery, dairy farming and aquaculture, he added, stating that various events would be organised to bring the village into the limelight.

The DC said villagers would be educated on tourism businesses like homestays, cafés and hotels.

Youngsters would be trained about paragliding, boating and other adventure activities.

He said the services of Tourism Department would be used to train villagers about hospitality. The endeavour would help improve the economy of the village, and the lifestyle of villagers.

District Tourism Officer Manoj Kumar, Deputy Director (Horticulture Department) Mala Sharma, Deputy Director (Agriculture) Shashipal Sharma and officers of the National Thermal Power Corporation were among those present at the meeting.
