Dist Health Officer pushes for wider outreach of govt schemes

Officials of the Health and Family Welfare Department held the monthly district-level review meeting of Block Medical Officers at Chief Medical Officer’s office on Tuesday. The meeting was chaired by District Health Officer Dr Kavita Mahajan.

During the meeting, Dr Mahajan reviewed the monthly reports submitted by the Block Medical Officers and assessed the progress of various schemes and activities being implemented under the Aspirational District programme. She directed officials to accelerate the progress of all ongoing initiatives.

She said the department was observing Newborn Care Week from November 15 to 21, focusing on creating awareness among parents regarding newborn care. The activities included educating families about immunisation, breastfeeding and protection of infants from illnesses such as pneumonia. She emphasised the role of the department in safeguarding child health.

The District Health Officer also reviewed programmes being implemented under the National Health Mission, including Reproductive and Child Health (RCH), immunisation, Rashtriya Bal Swasthya Karyakram (RBSK), Janani Shishu Suraksha Karyakram (JSSK), non-communicable diseases (NCD) programme, and HMIS-related activities. She inspected the functioning of health and wellness centres and instructed officials to ensure that all schemes and services reach every household. She stressed the need to disseminate information about welfare schemes so that people benefit from these.

Those present at the meeting included Dr Karan Hiteshi, Dr Vehavi Gurung, Block Medical Officer Sunil Kakkar, Dr Dipesh Baral, Dr Rishi Puri, Dr Sham Lal, Dr Anuradha, Dr Prateek, Dr Narendra, Dr Suresh, Changa MEIO Ram Thakur, health supervisors from all blocks, block accountants, block programme managers and MIS operators.
