A meeting of the Women’s Welfare Council, Kinnaur, was held recently at the Deputy Commissioner’s office.The District Magistrate (DM) of Kinnaur, Dr Amit Kumar Sharma, was the chief guest. During the meeting, which was held under the chairmanship of council’s chairman Ratanmanjari, a new executive committee was formed for the district.
Sushila Negi, wife of Revenue and Horticulture Minister Jagat Singh Negi, was appointed the advisor of the committee, Radhika Negi, a resident of Ribba, executive president, Kumari Yashoda Negi of Sunam village district vice-president, Suman Negi of Barang village joint secretary, Radha Krishna of Yuvarangi village treasurer, Kumari Sneh Lata of Ribba village legal advisor. Nitika Negi and Kiran Negi of Choura village were appointed the press secretaries.
The district-level executive committee also included members from the blocks of Kalpa, Nichar and Pooh. The members of the Kalpa block include Anjana Negi from Kamru village, Deepika Negi from Sangla village, Rekha Negi from Sangla village, Shashi Kala from Batseri village, Rajkumari from Shudarang village, Kalawati from Rodhi village and Krishna from Sapni village.
The members of the Nichar block include Geeta Negi from Urni village, Pawan Rekha from Taranda village, Anu from Kachrang village, Anita from Bari village, Shabnam from Miru village and Tara Moyan from Thach village while the members of the Pooh block include Uma Negi from Rispa village, Sushila from Lippa village, Kamlesh from Morang village, Kamla Devi from Pooh village and Hemvati from Ribba village.
During the meeting, discussions were held on strengthening the organisation, formulating the annual plan for 2024-25 and organising block-level meetings in all three zones of the district to reinforce the council. In addition, the members also discussed the ways to improve the financial condition of the council.
Meanwhile, DM Sharma pledged to provide all possible assistance to expedite and complete the construction work of the council’s building in Reckong Peo. He said the council had played a crucial role in providing assistance to women and carrying out various public welfare activities in Kinnaur for nearly four decades.
