Do not hide illness, says cured TB patient
The 100-day mission to make the district tuberculosis free was started by Deputy Commissioner Amarjit Singh in Hamirpur on Saturday.
At the inaugural function, the Deputy Commissioner, along with Kamla Devi — a cured TB patient, flagged off the TB eradication awareness van from the DC office complex. The DC said the mission would continue till March 17, 2025, and would be titled ‘Jan Bhagidari’. Apart from the Health Department, Ayurveda, Women and Child Development, Education, Industry, Youth Services and Sports departments would also assist in the mission, he added. Members of Panchayati Raj Institutions would provide support at the village level, he said.
The DC added that individual susceptible to the disease would be screened for TB symptoms. Chief Medical Officer Dr Praveen Chaudhary and TB Eradication Programme Officer Dr Sunil Verma detailed the programme.
The CMO said a mobile X-ray machine would be employed to conduct on-the-spot imaging of patients. Kamla Devi shared her experience about TB treatment at the event. She said TB patients should not hide their illness and must inform experts so that proper treatment could be started.
