Drug-free India drive meeting held in Kinnaur

Kinnaur’s Executive Deputy Commissioner Shashank Gupta recently chaired a district-level meeting under the Drug-Free India Campaign at his office.

He announced the establishment of a de-addiction centre in Bhaba Nagar, a tribal region in Kinnaur, to help youngsters overcome substance abuse.

Street plays and folk songs would also be used to spread awareness against drug addiction, he added.

Gupta urged parents and teachers not to put undue mental pressure on children, and exhorted them to encourage children to participate in sports for their holistic development.

He informed the attendees about the helpline for counselling services for those struggling with drug addiction (14446).

He also highlighted the Maanas portal (1933) for reporting drug dealers, assuring that the identity of informants is kept confidential.
