DSP gets interim bail in scholarship scam case

The CBI court has granted interim bail to DSP Balbir Singh, who has been arrested in an alleged scholarship scam of Himachal Pradesh. Balbir Singh was the investigating officer in an alleged scholarship scam case investigated by the CBI

The CBI has registered an FIR against Vishal Deep, former Assistant Director, Shimla, on the complaints of the directors of two educational institutions on December 22, 2024, under Section 7 of the Prevention of Corruption Act.

The CBI stated that the ED officer with the help of their two relatives was extorting money by threatening them with their arrest in the investigation he was overseeing. The CBI also alleged that the accused DSP of CBI had negotiated the bribe amount. KP Singh, counsel of the DSP, argued that the accused was suffering from many ailments for which he would have to undergo many medical tests. After hearing the arguments, the court granted interim bail to the accused for one month for treatment.
