Dummi, Bhout panchayats get ward committees

Shimla, July 13

The Himachal Kisan Sabha here today constituted ward committees in Dummi and Bhout panchayats of the Shimla district.

The committees were formed after a meeting under the chairmanship of Himachal Kisan Sabha’s state president Dr Kuldeep Singh Tanwar.

During the meeting, Tanwar said the Kisan Sabha was putting in efforts to raise the issues of farmers and was bringing them together to resolve their problems.

Talking about the importance of such organisations in a democracy, Tanwar added that if the organisation was strengthened at the ward level, the quicker the issues could be resolved.

He also highlighted the increasing agricultural crisis in the country and said the farmers did not receive fair prices for their produce.

During the meeting, issues like growing menace of wild animals, risks faced by people due to overcrowded buses and old buses in the area and inadequate drinking water were also discussed.
