Eco-tourism project planned near Kasol
Kullu MLA Sunder Singh Thakur, who is also chairman of the Special Area Development Authority (SADA) Committee, has announced a major eco-tourism project near Kasol along the Grhan Nala, which is aimed at promoting tourism while preserving the environment.
Thakur says that the project will include the construction of natural bathing pools for both local residents and tourists. Besides, an interpretation centre will be set up to educate visitors about the area’s natural beauty and cultural heritage. The project will also focus on family-friendly amenities, with plans to offer bathing facilities and therapeutic hot water treatment to tourists seeking relaxation and health benefits, he adds.
He says that in collaboration with the Forest Department, the SADA Committee plans to acquire land for eco-tourism development. The project aims at harnessing natural hot springs in the area, which at present drain into the rivulet, by redirecting them for use in the proposed bathing pools and therapeutic services. Furthermore, a drilling operation will be explored to locate new hot water sources that can add to the site’s offerings.
To maintain cleanliness and sustainable tourism practices, Thakur also unveiled plans for a material recovery facility site. This facility will process waste from the SADA area, ensuring that no waste is burnt. Instead, the waste will undergo a purification process, as part of waste management and promote eco-friendly practices in the region.
He says, “The proposed material recovery facility will be beneficial for the local community, providing effective waste disposal while boosting tourism in the area. This initiative will ensure that the region remains pristine, without pollution, and will offer visitors an enriching and environmentally pure experience.”
