The poor policies of the Central Government, led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, have contributed to the downfall of the country’s economy and eventual decline in the world rankings. This was stated by Sandeep Sankhyan, spokesperson of Himachal Pradesh Congress Committee, at Bilaspur on Sunday. He said in the international hunger index, India’s rank fell from 55th position to 111th in the last 11 years, when the Centre claimed to have distributed free ration to over 80 crore people in the country.
Sankhyan said out of 180 countries, India’s rank in press freedom index fell from 78 in 2014 to 151 at present. He said till 2014, the value of dollar was nearly Rs 55, but after 11 years of the NDA government, it had increased to roughly Rs 88. Not only this, out of 196 countries, India had gone down from 88th to 135th position in happiness index and the passport ranking had fallen from 78th rank to 85th in the world, he added.
Sankhyan said Congress leader Rahul Gandhi had revealed how BJP leaders “manipulated” elections to ensure their victory in the 2024 Lok Sabha poll. He added that the BJP leaders were misleading people to grab power and there was big difference in their preaching and practice.
Speaking on the ‘Tiranga Yatra’ of the BJP, he alleged that the BJP had made it a political and money making event by selling flags at Rs 25 and portraying “pseudo-nationalism”.
