Education aid for underprivileged children
On the occasion of its 10th anniversary, the Kar Sewa Dal Organisation launched its 37th community service initiative, focused on supporting the education of underprivileged children. As part of this noble effort, the organisation distributed essential study materials to 80 needy students, reaffirming its commitment to social welfare and educational upliftment.
Organisation president Mandeep Singh announced that school-going children from economically weaker backgrounds will now receive school bags, shoes, notebooks, MBD guides and other necessary supplies annually. He emphasised that the organisation is determined to ensure financial hardship does not hinder a child’s education.
“This year, we spread the word through WhatsApp groups and electronic media, reaching out to parents of needy school children,” Singh said. “Interested families submitted applications, and after a careful screening process, selected children were invited to a special programme at the Gurdwara in Akhara, where they were provided with complete study kits.”
Highlighting Kar Sewa Dal’s long-standing service in Kullu, Singh noted that the organisation has been a pillar of support for over 15 years, offering 36 different types of free services to the poor, sick and underprivileged. “We strive to introduce one or two new services every year to expand our reach and help more people in need,” he added. “In keeping with this tradition, we proudly introduced our 37th service on this important milestone.”
Lifetime member Abhishek Sen, members of the Gurdwara Managing Committee and several Kar Sewa Dal executives were actively involved in the event. A community feast was also organised for the children and their families, reinforcing the spirit of compassion and inclusivity.
