Education essential for personality development: Minister
Says state government is striving to improve educational standards by amending regulations
Education promotes knowledge, skills and values and is essential for personality development and the betterment of society, said Public Works Development (PWD) Minister Vikramaditya Singh at the annual prize distribution function of Dayanand Public School held at the historic Gaiety Theatre here today.
The minister, while addressing students, faculty members and parents, said, “Education is the foundation of economic and social progress.” He congratulated the meritorious students, who had excelled in various activities throughout the year. He added that these activities along with education helped children in staying away from drugs and in making right decisions for their future along with developing the ability to face challenges.
Vikramaditya said, “The state government is striving to improve educational standards by amending regulations to bridge the gap between government and private schools so that every child can receive quality education and build a bright future.”
He said that Dayanand Public School was counted among the leading schools in Shimla city. “In today’s competitive era, every child must have a strong educational foundation and sound knowledge to achieve success in life and the school is making commendable efforts in this direction,” he added.
He also congratulated the school for its achievements and said that “every student cherishes the time spent in school, college and university”. He urged the students to stay away from drugs, move forward with a positive mindset and achieve the goals of their lives.
The minister also released the school’s newsletter titled ‘Echoes of Excellence’. Earlier, principal of the school Anupam welcomed Vikramaditya and presented a detailed report on various activities organised throughout the year, along with the academic achievements of meritorious students.
The students of the school presented colourful cultural performances. The minister announced a cash reward of Rs 31,000 for the students, who participated in the cultural programme.
