Education Minister Rohit Thakur today inaugurated the Delwi link road in Panog Panchayat, Kotkhai subdivision in Shimla district. He highlighted that in the past two years, 115 roads have been approved, with Rs 400 crore allocated for construction and development in the Jubbal-Nawar-Kotkhai constituency.
Addressing the gathering, the minister emphasised the extensive road construction in the region. He congratulated the residents and acknowledged the challenges faced in constructing the Delwi link road after disaster-related damage. He credited the state government’s determination and local cooperation for the project’s completion, ensuring significant benefits for the region.
Thakur reiterated that being a hilly state, Himachal Pradesh’s development hinges on road construction, which remains a priority. He announced Rs 5 crore for upgrading the Kyari road, with work set to commence soon. Additionally, Rs 15 lakh has been approved for renovating the Government Senior Secondary School building in Kyari. He assured that all roads in the Ghyal region would soon be paved.
Responding to local demands, he assured that land identification for a community building would be expedited, and construction would begin soon.
The minister also provided updates on the Rs 38 crore lift drinking water scheme, which is under construction and set for completion by June 30. This scheme will benefit 23 Panchayats by addressing drinking water shortages and supporting irrigation and agriculture.
Highlighting the government’s commitment to quality education, Thakur said effective steps have been taken in this direction. In two years, 37 deputy directors, 119 college principals, 313 school principals, 483 assistant professors and 700 PGTs have been appointed through selection and promotion. Thousands of teacher posts have also been filled with recruitment ongoing.
Further, he announced a grant of Rs 3 lakh for constructing a temple in Panog, reaffirming the government’s dedication to regional development and welfare.
