Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu virtually addressed s three-day brainstorming ‘Samriddh Himachal 2045’, which is being organised at Dr Manmohan Singh Himachal Pradesh Institute of Public Administration (HIPA), from New Delhi last evening. He said the event was aimed at drafting a 20-year roadmap for the sustainable economic development of Himachal Pradesh through expert seminars and discussions.
Sukhu said, “The government has been working with a clear vision to make Himachal a green energy, self-reliant and prosperous state. Achieving these long-term goals requires a balanced approach to sustainable development and economic growth, and this exercise will help formulate innovative strategies for the future.”
The Chief Minister said that the government was committed to the holistic development of the state and the Budget for 2025-26 had been prepared with special focus on strengthening the rural economy, developing the energy sector, promoting tourism and improving infrastructure in the education and healthcare sectors. “The state government intends to tap hydropower potential and has also taken up the issue of securing higher royalty in power projects,” he added.
He claimed that the state was a pioneer in natural farming and efforts were being made to promote it further along with the dairy sector. “Various initiatives have been taken to strengthen these sectors. Vyavastha Parivartan means heading towards making a self-sustained and self-reliant Himachal,” he said.
Sam Pitroda, a development thinker and entrepreneur, also joined the session from the USA and gave inputs about holistic development of the state and shared his perspective on the subject. He lauded the effort of the state government for the initiative and added that he was keen to share his knowledge with the government for the development of Himachal Pradesh.
