The Hindu Ekta Manch activists of Una today demanded a background check of all migrant workers in the district.
Addressed to the Una Deputy Commissioner, the activists today submitted a memorandum to the Additional Deputy Commissioner Mahender Pal Gurjar, according to which, their demand finds credence in view of the recent incident involving the construction of a mosque in Sanjauli.

The activists alleged that alleging that some of them could be anti-social elements.
The memorandum read that of late, petty crimes like chain snatching and thefts have been on the rise in the district. The activists said there had been an attempt to create an illegal burial ground in Nangal Salangri village. Recently, there were unconfirmed reports on a national television channel regarding an illegal ‘madrasa’ running in the district, read the memorandum, adding that if such an institution is functional here, it should be identified and immediately shut down.
The Hindu Ekta Manch activists requested the DC take necessary measures to verify the background of all such persons, including thousands of vegetable cultivators from Uttar Pradesh who cultivate summer vegetables on the Swan river bed every year.
The manch also demanded that the panchayat pradhans should be directed to identify and verify the migrant workers living in their areas. The activists cautioned that if their demands were not met, they will be forced to take to the streets.
