To ensure effective security, traffic management and crowd control during the upcoming State-level Shoolini Fair from June 20 to 22, Solan SP Gaurav Singh convened a review meeting with all key police officials. Emphasising the importance of maintaining law and order, he instructed officers to prioritise public safety and remain present in the field throughout the event.
Solan city has been divided into six sectors, where 600 police personnel will be deployed. Three 24-hour police barriers will be set up at Dev Bhoomi Apartments (Shamti), Hotel The Cliff (near Kangra Metri Sabha), and Saproon Chowk. Each sector will have a designated police officer overseeing traffic and security arrangements.
Traffic plans include alternative routes, one-way systems, designated parking areas and speed limits. CCTV surveillance, drones, body-worn cameras, and mobile patrols will ensure round-the-clock monitoring. Crowd control measures include barricading, bomb disposal and tear gas squads, disaster response teams, and a public announcement system to warn against pickpockets.
A special help desk for children, women, elderly, and missing persons will operate at the Women Police Station. Reserve police will be stationed at Thodo Ground to respond to emergencies.
A field inspection of Mata Shoolini Temple and other critical areas was conducted to assess vulnerabilities. SP Singh urged officers to promote community policing with the help of local shopkeepers, volunteers, and NGOs. He appealed to residents to support the police, ignore rumours and report any suspicious activity.
