He was speaking at the annual prize distribution ceremony of Rajkiya Kanya Mahavidyalaya (RKMV) here on Friday. He said modernization was essential, but transforming oneself completely to conform to the Western culture must be avoided.

“Radical overhaul distances us from our cultural and natural identity. We should adopt modernity, while preserving our inherent character,” he remarked. When women are respected and empowered, the society and the nation flourish, he stated.

Shukla expressed satisfaction that RKMV was the only college in the state formally registered with the Youth Red Cross, reflecting its dedication to humanitarian values, compassion and community service. He appreciated the college’s consistent anti-drug initiatives, including its widely recognised anti-chitta campaign, and commended the impactful street play presented by the students on drug abuse.

The Governor said the college had effectively aligned itself with the National Education Policy and had emerged as a model institution. He expressed happiness that the college had become a strong platform for students from tribal and rural areas, embodying the spirit of inclusive education.
