Chamba, September 2

A 29-year-old employee of the Himachal Pradesh Electricity Board died of electrocution while repairing a fault in an 11 kv transmission line connected to a transformer at Jhajhakothi in Tissa subdivision of Chamba district on Monday.

The deceased was identified as Pawan Kumar, a resident of Tikrigarh village, who worked as a T-mate in the board.

He was working alone when the incident happened, said Salooni Deputy Superintendent of Police Ranjan Sharma.

Pawan was found lying lifeless for about an hour-and-a-half later by a local. He alerted the local community, the police and electricity board authorities.

The post mortem will be conducted at Pt Jawaharlal Nehru Government Medical College in Chamba on Tuesday.

While the police have registered a case and started an investigation, the power board authorities have formed a committee to probe the circumstances leading to the accident.
