While the Manali Municipal Council is taking frequent action against encroachments on footpaths by the street vendors and shopkeepers on the Mall Road, the authorities tend to overlook the encroachments on the pedestrian path at Gompa road in Ward No. 6. The matter has been brought to the notice of the MC, police and administration many times but to no avail. The encroachers are either sheltered by prominent people or someone is profiteering from such encroachments. The corrupt should be penalised and illegal encroachments removed at the earliest.

Theog residents stare at water crisis

Water woes have started to become quite serious in several areas of upper Shimla. In many areas falling in Theog tehsil, people are getting water supply almost after a week. Due to the prolonged dry spell, water sources are drying up fast. The Jal Shakti Department should take note of the issue and send water tankers to the affected ares more frequently for convenience of the residents.

Stray dogs pose threat to pedestrians

Stray dogs are posing a major threat to pedestrians in Kullu. Dogs often attack passers-by, especially children and senior citizens. The Kullu Municipal Council authorities said people from rural areas are abandoning their dogs in the town due to which their number is increasing. The MC’s campaign to protect the city from stray dogs has been stopped midway due to lack of sufficient funds. The civic body should take appropriate steps at the earliest to ensure safety of the people from canines.
