Chamba Deputy Commissioner Mukesh Repaswal on Thursday stressed on the need for Lead Bank to increase enrolment in PM Suraksha Bima and PM Jeevan Jyoti insurance schemes. He was presiding over a review meeting to assess various developmental activities being implemented under the Aspirational District Programme in Chamba, in collaboration with NITI Aayog and CSR initiatives.

He directed the Lead Bank, Rural Development Department, Women and Child Development Department, Medical College, Revenue Department and other departments concerned to coordinate efforts to enhance the coverage of these insurance schemes effectively. The Lead Bank manager was specifically instructed to work in coordination with various departmental officials to ensure the proper implementation of these schemes.

The meeting also included a detailed discussion on key performance indicators in health, education, nutrition, agriculture and water resources, infrastructure, financial inclusion and skill development, as per NITI Aayog’s report. The Deputy Commissioner highlighted that Chamba district received Rs 5 crore from NITI Aayog in 2024 as a reward for its overall performance under the Aspirational District Programme. He credited all departmental officials for this achievement and expressed gratitude for their efforts.

He urged officials to improve the district’s ranking, work more efficiently and ensure timely completion of ongoing projects. The DC stressed the need to develop basic infrastructure in the district and directed departments, including health, education, agriculture, water resources and horticulture, to submit necessary proposals by the end of February for timely submission to the commission.

The meeting was attended by District Development Officer OP Thakur, Deputy Director of Agriculture Bhupendra Singh, Chief Medical Officer Bipen Thakur, Lead Bank Manager DC Chauhan, District Planning Officer Jeevan Kumar, OSD Umakant Anand, and various other departmental officials.
