Nurpur, July 24
The Jal Shakti Department (JSD) held a review meeting today at Jawali, Kangra district, to prepare its machinery to ensure clean and uninterrupted potable water supply to the residents of the Jawali sub-division. Vikas Bakshi, Superintendent Engineer (SE) for JSD Circle Nurpur, presided over the meeting.
Keeping in view the monsoon, the SE directed the department’s workforce to ensure regular chlorination of water tanks so that consumers could receive potable water. The Executive Engineer and all JSD officers were given special instructions to conduct chemical and bacteriological tests on water samples on a daily basis at the laboratory set up at the JSD’s Jawali office.
SE Bakshi told The Tribune that during the meeting, the progress of the ongoing drinking water supply and irrigation schemes under NABARD and Jal Jeevan Mission was also assessed, and necessary instructions were passed to enable the completion of these schemes within the timeframe specified.
