Ensure record in Vimal Negi death case isn’t tampered with: BJP to Himachal Governor
The BJP today urged Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla to ensure that there was no tampering of evidence in the Vimal Negi death case and a probe was conducted into all the allegations levelled by the Shimla SSP against senior IAS and IPS officers is conducted to bring out the truth.
The BJP Legislature Party, led by Leader of the Opposition Jai Ram Thakur, state BJP president Rajeev Bindal, MPs Suresh Kashyap, Harsh Mahajan and Rajeev Bhardwaj, Himachal BJP in-charge Shrikant Sharma and co-incharge Sanjay Tandon submitted a memorandum to the Governor. They urged Shukla to ensure that there should be no tampering with the record in Vimal Negi’s case and it was duly handed over to the CBI.
“There is total anarchy in the state as Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu had no administrative grip over a squabbling bureaucracy. Ministers and MLAs do not have faith in the Chief Minister and vice versa. Under such circumstances, the Chief Minister should resign on moral ground, as the entire state is suffering,” he said.
The BJP delegation said that the manner in which the Shimla SSP had levelled allegations against all his seniors, both IAS and IPS officers, reflected indiscipline in the services. They also demanded the suspension of the SSP for this irresponsible behaviour.
“The ambit of the CBI inquiry must include holding a probe into the allegations of financial irregularities and corruption in Himachal Pradesh Power Corporation Ltd (HPPCL), which is setting up both solar and hydroelectric power projects in the state.
The BJP highlighted the issue of the concealing of crucial evidence like a pen drive found on Negi’s body and demanded action against all officials who tried to hide facts. It said that the functioning of the SIT in this case had eroded the faith of people in the state police. Moreover, action against honest officers, whose reports had brought crucial evidence to the fore, was unfortunate and demoralising, the memorandum stated.
