The Solan police nabbed a fugitive, Mohammad Imran, a resident of Jadli, who was on the run since 2010, from Kunihar bazaar on July 15 in a case relating to forgery and cheating.
He was declared a fugitive by the court after he could not be arrested despite a persistent search by the police and repeatedly summoning by the court as he kept shifting his hideout. He was produced in the court yesterday which remanded him to judicial custody. The previous criminal record of the accused is also being investigated informed SP, Solan, Gaurav Singh.
Singh, while sharing details of the case, informed that on April 30, 2010, Sub-Registrar (Naib-Tehsildar) Solan lodged a complaint alleging that a person Mohammad Imran (45), a resident of Jadli village in Solan, had prepared fake copy of revenue papers for a piece of land measuring 18.09 Bigha.
Further, by forging his signature as Patwari, he prepared a general power of attorney of the said land in the name of Virender Chauhan, a resident of Chambaghat in the office of Sub-Registrar Solan. Imran then sold that land for Rs 9.20 lakh by cheating and dishonestly grabbed Rs 2.20 lakh. Following the sub-registrar’s complaint, the Solan police registered a case of cheating and forgery on April 30, 2010.
