Seb Udpadak Sangh is protesting the High Court-ordered eviction from the encroached government land and houses on the grounds that the order is not being implemented as per the rules. Simultaneously, the Sangh has urged the government to implement the Himachal Pradesh Regularisation of Encroachments on Government Land and Disposal of Government Land Rules, 2002.

Sanjay Chauhan, a leader of the Seb Utpadak Sangh, has alleged that a few people were being evicted from their houses without following the rules properly. “The eviction should be carried out as per the Land Revenue Act, but it’s being done under through Public Premises and Land Act. No proper demarcation has been carried out and the people are being evicted from their houses,” he said.

DFO, Rohru, Ravisankar Sarma, however, said the process procedure was followed before a family was asked to vacate the house that was found on the encroached land. “The demarcation was carried out on December 10 as per the rules and the house was found on encroached land,” said Sarma.

Chauhan further said that a few people, who had been evicted from their houses under the eviction drive, had got relief from the Supreme Court, which proves the eviction drive is not being carried out as per the norms. “Besides, the eviction drive has not touched the big encroachers,” he claimed.

While admitting that some people evicted during the drive had got relief from the apex court, Sarma said the relief was specifically for those particular cases, it is not a blanket relief for everyone. “We are taking up the guidelines issued by the Supreme Court while providing relief in those cases in our next demarcations,” he said.
