Expedite delayed projects in Sirmaur: MP

Shimla Lok Sabha MP Suresh Kashyap chaired a District Development Coordination and Monitoring Committee meeting to assess the progress of Central government schemes in Sirmaur. He emphasised the importance of timely implementation to ensure benefits reach residents and urged officials to complete ongoing projects systematically and on time.

Kashyap directed officials to expedite delayed projects without compromising quality and stressed the need for effective dissemination of information about government schemes. Specific instructions were given to the Public Works Department to accelerate road construction under the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY).

Highlighting the progress of the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY), Kashyap stated that of the 620 houses targeted for Nahan, Paonta Sahib, and Rajgarh municipal areas, 489 have been completed, with the remainder nearing completion. He also urged the Agriculture and Horticulture Departments to ensure the timely distribution of seeds to farmers.

Under the Swachh Bharat Mission, all 418 toilet construction applications have been implemented, with 272 and 146 toilets completed in Nahan and Paonta Sahib, respectively.

Reviewing the National Health Mission (NHM), the MP encouraged efforts to make Himachal Pradesh tuberculosis-free. Between April and November 2024, Rs 35.17 lakh was disbursed to 676 beneficiaries under the Janani Suraksha Yojana, while 3,773 institutional deliveries were facilitated under the Janani Shishu Suraksha Programme. Kashyap called for awareness camps to achieve 100 per cent institutional deliveries.

He also noted that Sirmaur district has 14 PM SHRI schools, including 11 senior secondary and three primary schools, which received Rs 28 lakh for activities. Additionally, under the Integrated Child Development Services (ICDS), 45,649 children aged 0-6 years and 7,996 pregnant and lactating mothers have benefited.
