Revenue Minister Jagat Singh Negi chaired a meeting of the Project Advisory Committee at Kaza in Lahaul and Spiti district yesterday. He emphasised the need to expedite the work on development projects and ensuring quality. He asked various department officials for detailed reports on financial and physical progress of the projects.

The minister said that Rs 44.65 crore had been allocated for various works in Kaza this fiscal year to ensure comprehensive development of the local population. He directed officials concerned to expedite ongoing construction works, particularly road construction and building projects managed by the Public Works Department. He also directed the Electricity Department to complete electrical projects within the stipulated time.

Additionally, the Jal Shakti Department was instructed to implement sewerage plans in Kaza and Tabo and expedite drinking water and irrigation projects. The minister reviewed agricultural initiatives, ensuring that improved seed varieties were provided to farmers, particularly for pea cultivation.

The minister stressed the importance of basic facilities and directed various departments to organise awareness camps to implement government schemes effectively. After the meeting, he emphasised the need to resolve pending cases under the Forest Rights Act and increase public awareness about it.

Negi later inspected the ongoing construction of a 2 MW solar plant at Rongtong and the hostel at Senior Secondary School, Kaza, and directed the officials concerned to ensure their timely completion.
