Mandi, July 11
Deputy Commissioner Apoorv Devgan chaired a crucial review meeting at the DRDA auditorium to oversee the progress of the construction of the Awahdevi-Sarkaghat-Dharampur-Kotli-Mandi section of the National Highway-70 in Mandi yesterday.
At the meeting, the DC directed officials of the NHAI to accelerate the construction work of the stretch. Emphasising on minimising inconvenience to local residents, he called for the urgent reconstruction of connecting roads, pathways and restoration of disrupted drinking water sources due to the ongoing construction activities.
To ensure the safety of nearby residential areas, the DC instructed officials to plan and execute measures to secure houses adjacent to the construction site. Additionally, he underscored the importance of maintaining smooth traffic flow during the monsoon season.
Addressing environmental concerns, the DC mandated the NHAI to promptly address drainage issues along the road and expedite the construction of safety walls and culverts at vulnerable spots. Measures to prevent debris from affecting residential areas should also prioritised, Devgan added.
To improve road conditions immediately, the DC also directed swift repair of potholes along various segments of the NH-70.
Devgan also directed the Sub-Divisional Magistrates concerned and the Project Director of the NHAI in Hamirpur to promptly resolve any grievances raised by local residents to ensure accountability and responsiveness, with regular updates to his office.
