The minister, along with Lahaul and Spiti MLA Anuradha Rana and other committee members, was welcomed in a traditional manner.
The meeting focused on a wide range of issues related to tribal development in Lahaul-Spiti district. Negi emphasised the need to expedite the work on the long-pending sewage treatment plant project in Keylong. The meeting discussed challenges and development plans regarding agriculture, fisheries, public works, water supply, education and health sectors. Progress made on decisions taken during the previous session was reviewed. The minister directed the officials concerned to resolve all pending cases under the Forest Rights Act (FRA) on priority. The progress made on the Lindur and Karpat resettlement directives and the flood protection work at Jahlma Nallah was also reviewed. The minister also instructed officials concerned that all formalities regarding land for the proposed Kukumseri college and a polytechnic institute at Udaipur be completed without delay. — TNS
