Explosions in gun shop, man hurt

An arms and ammunition shop was destroyed last evening following two explosions, which took place in the gun powder store.
Briefing mediapersons here today, Amit Sharma, DSP, said around 5 pm, the police received an information that a gun shop was gutted at Nagri, 10 km from here, following two explosions in its store.
A police team, headed by SHO Sandeep Kumar, along with fire fighters, immediately reached the spot and controlled the fire.
During investigation, it was revealed that the owner of the shop had stored gun powder and other inflammable material, including cartridges, in the shop which caught fire. The building was also damaged following explosions.
He said Mohinder Singh, a customer, received 95 per cent burn injuries and was shifted to the IGMC-Shimla in a critical condition.
The police have registered a case under Sections 337, 336 and 286 of the IPC against Kashmir Chand, the owner, for not following safety measures and negligence in storing gun powder and other inflammable material. A forensic team from Dharamsala visited the spot and collected the evidence. Dozens of guns were also destroyed.
